EDUC 633 Blog 2 - Learning Theories and Distance Education

I thought I would try a little something different with my video blog today.  I used Powerpoint for my slides and sound recorder for my voice. I then made a movie in Movie Maker with the slides and narration.  Does anyone else have a better way I should have done this?  I would appreciate any tips.  This was the only way I knew how to do it.

  1. I enjoyed watching your video blog for this week. I agree with the strength and weakness that you pointed out about the constructivism learning style. It is very difficult to function in any class whether it’s face to face or online when you do not have the prior knowledge needed for the subject matter. I also see how this learning theory relates to the Adult Learning Theory that you also discussed. They both have the students draw from previous experiences. Also, I think that you did a great job in presenting your information! Great video!

  2. Winnie ~

First, great job on the video post. It was very impressive to someone like me who is barely learning how to upload YouTube videos. Being an active and constructive learner as an adult in distance education is critical to being motivated and problem-solving. Having the ability to tap into what you already know and build on it makes the process and experience so much more enjoyable, but when you are lost, as I have been with learning all these new technology and software applications for the courses, fear steps in and being overwhelmed is suffocating. You make the process of risk-taking to be more creative and engaging. Thank you for such an eye-opening post and allowing us as learners to have a better insight into theories of learning that gives us a better understanding of being a self-directed learner.
